We weren’t quite ready to leave Ålesund just yet! The day after our General Assembly, we stayed at the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center (NMK) for Harnessing the Blue, a joint workshop with our sister project CIRCALGAE, once again hosted by our partners at Møreforsking.

The consortium travelled to Norway’s west coast to take stock of the research and plan the final stretch of the project.

On 16 October, we are bringing together researchers and industry representatives in an event we are co-organising with CIRCALGAE, in Ålesund and online, to discuss the latest innovations in marine biotechnology

Marina Pozzolini is Associate Professor at the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Life Sciences (DISTAV) of the University of Genoa and responsible for the Marine Biotechnologies Curriculum within the Master's Degree in Marine Biology and Ecology. 

Alice Bagnato is conducting a research fellowship at the University of Genoa, where she is affiliated with the Department of Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences (DISTAV). 

 

 

 

Prof. Giovine is a senior researcher and full professor at the University of Genoa, working with us on studies aimed at characterising the structure and extracellular matrix of sponges and optimising sponge cell cultures. 

 

Serena Federico is one of our colleagues working on the development and optimisation of sponge cell culture systems. 

Our colleague, Shirley Pomponi, took part in the "Cell Culture in Symbiotic Invertebrates" on 27-28 May 2026 at the University of Miami in the US

We took part in the Europe Biobank Week in Prague (19-22 May), alongside more than 700 delegates from 49 countries!

Prof. Rinkevich leads our work on cell lines development for the species of marine invertebrates we chose to focus on.
