Meet the BLUES researchers: Antoinette Kazbar
After growing up in the sunny lands of Lebanon, her scientific career has taken her from western France to the windmills of the Netherlands, where she gained experience in algal systems for nutraceuticals, focusing on process design and techno-economics. This multicultural journey has equipped her with a diverse toolkit for tackling scientific challenges, which she continues using to revolutionise alternative protein production.
Currently, Antoinette is engaged with both the Biorefinery and Cellular Agriculture teams within the Bioprocess Engineering group at the WUR. In her role at the BLUES project, the experienced researcher works on developing green extraction technologies for harvesting high-value compounds from marine invertebrates.
Here’s to Antoinette—may her innovative spirit continue to inspire others and boost the blue economy!
