Meet the BLUES researchers: Dr. Roger Meisal

Dr. Meisal holds a PhD on molecular epidemiology and boasts extensive experience developing tools and methodologies for molecular genotyping and DNA sequencing in research. He recently published the genome of P. tremulus, one of the organisms we study in BLUES.
Meet the BLUES researchers: Dr. Roger Meisal

Ever since BLUES kicked off, we have been in awe of our partners' dedication, their passion for research, their expertise, and their desire to advance knowledge and share what they've learned with their peers. And finding out that they also make time for hobbies? Priceless.

Case and point: Dr. Roger Meisal is one of our colleagues at Møreforsking. With a PhD from the Norwegian National Institute of Public Health on molecular epidemiology, Dr. Meisal started his career in the health sector, working on developing tools and methodologies for molecular genotyping. He has been - and still is - actively engaged in the implementation and use of DNA sequencing technologies in research.

At Møreforsking, Dr. Meisal has been a part of the Sustainable Oceans and Coasts since 2019. Here, he has worked to build infrastructure and methodology in molecular biology, focusing on the implementation and use of DNA sequencing and complementary bioinformatics as tools in Omics research. Recently, he has published about the genome of P. tremulus, one of the organisms we study in BLUES.

When not at work, Dr. Meisal is dedicating his spare time to one of his many interests: hiking, photography, and gardening in the summer months - and that's to mention a few! Plus, he also runs his own Karate school and is an active boating and fishing enthusiast.
